This morning you will head to the Nemocon Salt Mine which is about 1,5 hours drive from the capital city. During your visit to you will learn a lot of interesting facts about the five centuries old mine. The salt mine is still active and has 3 levels. You will walk through different tunnels 80 meters below ground and can see a variety of different sights with different salt lakes, wishing ponds and salt formations. The most amazing visual effects are created by many brine mirrors that dissolve in the salt rocks.

Furthermore, inside the mine you will find a small cathedral and you can see the scenes of the movie “La 33”, which was shot here in 2013. “La 33” is the film about the misfortune of the miners in Chile many years ago and the main parts of the film inside the mine were shot in the Nemocon Salt Mine – so Antonio Banderas, who played a leading role, spent some time in this salt mine.

You will return to Bogota Airport in time for your flight.

The highest point of today’s tour is at 3,340m and of course we will make several stops along the way to enjoy the beautiful views. After about 2 hours we reach the breathtaking wax palm forests of La Carbonera and take a short hike. In a typical Finca we enjoy a local snack and a small picnic in the middle of these beautiful landscapes.

The hike can be adapted to your needs – you can go back to Salento by Jeep Willys or even hike the whole way back through these great landscapes and listen to the myths & stories of your guide.

Time permitting, you may also have a brief look around the town of Solento.

Here you will be in direct contact with nature, you will get to know the sustainable production proposal that associates traditional crops such as coffee, banana, cocoa and guadua. You will also learn about the process of production and transformation process to obtain chocolate, a beverage of great nutritional and historical importance.

The tour will end with a delicious lunch in a “fonda tipica”, used by the grandparents to relax, eat and drink their “guaritos”.

After this tour, you have the option of visiting the colonial town of Filandia.

... one of the most beautiful in the country. Here you can find a variety of trails that pass the rainforest and the tropical dry forest, and have some amazing archaeological sites on their way.

We leave Santa Marta to take the scenic coastal road and reach the eastern entrance of the park after approximately 1 hour. From the Cañaveral sector we begin a walk through the tropical dry forest until arriving at the sector of Arrecifes (about 1 hour). Here we have a short break and time to refresh. We continue to Arenilla Beach, the Piscina Beach and Cabo San Juan (about 1 hour), where we have time to enjoy some beach time. You will have free time at La Piscina beach to go snorkeling with your own equipment. At about 4 p.m. we start our walk back to Cañaveral where our car awaits us.

The tour will be done in a little train, going through different stations within the salt complex and explaining details of salt production.

Notes:
The Pink Sea can only be seen in the dry months (December to March) the rest of the year could be affected by rain.
The sea is extremely salty in this region, it is not possible to bathe in it.
Program the rest of your activities, this is a full day tour and the town is located 1 hour from Cartagena.

Salsa Class

Music is one of the most important element of Colombian culture. People live and love music. In Cartagena you will hear Salsa, Merengue, Vallenato and Champeta in every corner. We invite you to learn some basic steps of traditional dances during a 1 hour lesson. A young team of dancers and dancing teachers will be waiting for you.

The dancing teachers speak Spanish and English. A translator for other languages can be booked additionally. You can choose how many dancing classes you want to book and if you want them to be private or in a group. After dancing to hot rhythms, you can practice the learned steps in local bars or clubs.

Our city tour starts with a transfer from the city center to the monastery La Popa. From there we have a breathtaking view over the whole city.

We continue to the largest fortress ever built by the Spaniards in South America: Castillo San Felipe de Barajas. We visit the fortress including some tunnels and the statue of Don Blas de Lezo. Then we return to the city center to visit the most important sights, such as the official entrance to the walled city with the clock tower (Torre del Reloj). Behind we can find the monument of Don Pedro de Heredia, the founder of Cartagena de Indias (1533).

We stroll through the narrow, colorful alleys; past wonderful squares, parks and churches. The guide tells us about the foundation of Cartagena and shares interesting stories full of legends and pirates.
